From producing plays on the Delhi stage at the age of 16, Arjun's creative journey got deviated to Vanderbilt, USA where he was reading Philosophy, Math and Economics. There he found himself in an elective film class, which gripped him so in 2003. Sensing Arjun’s talent and interest, his parents advised and encouraged him to attended film school at King's College, London. In the time that he spent in London, Arjun worked on sixteen independent films in the capacity of writer-director, director of photography and editor.

He edited ‘Urgency’, a film that premiered in the short film category at the Cannes Film Festival.

Arjun then found himself in Bollywood working as Raj Kumar Santoshi's Chief Assistant Director on the sets of 'Family-Ties of Blood'. His working relationship with Santoshi and ace cinematographer Ashok Mehta inspired him to gain a more technical and holistic understanding of the camera. This took him to London once again, as the apprentice of James Bartholomew.

Returning to India, Arjun brought with him a desperate need to translate the process of artistic evolution from the cold streets of London and Europe to a cathartic end on the hot plains of New Delhi. This resulted in his first body of artworks titled 'Portals of Perception' that showed at Rafaael's Gallery, New Delhi, in August 2008. Arjun’s debut solo art show sold out the first day to critical acclaim.

His sister Divvya had just returned to Delhi after completing her Master’s in Contemporary Art from Sotheby’s, London. Melding their common interests and unique talents Arjun and Divvya established The Nirula Family Company which had a formidable mandate.

Set up as an Artist’s Representative and Art Investment Service, The Nirula Family Company had their first show with Starlight titled “Captured Glass” in 2010. This was a stained glass collaborative effort held at The Academy of Fine Arts and Literature, New Delhi.

Being from the Nirula’s hotel and restaurant family, Arjun is also a successful serial entrepreneur in his own right, with business interests in Europe and India.
